It’s official! ‘The Fisher King’ is in the can and on its way to the streaming sites.
This album is a return to my more orchestral side but I also wanted to do something a little more intimate than some of my previous efforts. For this one I assembled a core ensemble of string quintet plus piano with some synths, field recordings, and percussion added in for extra color and atmosphere.
Writing parts for solo strings, and wrangling sample libraries to play them, is a particularly fun challenge. I’m rather proud of how it all came out to be honest.
As for the music, it developed changed over the course of 2025 much the same way as our politics and culture have changed in the US over that same time period.
There’s a certain sense of solastalgic loss that permeates as I’ve seen many things change or disappear entirely. Still, it’s not over yet and while things will never be the same, I haven’t given up hope. I think that’s reflected in the music at least that’s what I was going for.
As for the title and the meaning of the Fisher King, well, I’ll get to that in the album’s liner notes.
The Fisher King will premier on Bandcamp on January 6th, 2026. Streaming services to follow on January 16th.
Peace.
